The Belmaig Vertical Kilometer

The timed route of the Vertical Kilometer of Belmaig

will take you to the top of the mountain overlooking the village

Line up for this sporting event on November 7th.

The route starts at the Fontaine des Buis d'Arles sur Tech and ends

at the top of Pilon du Belmaig.

Up there => A superb 360 ° view of the Canigou Massif,

the Vallespir, Northern Catalonia and the bay of Rosas

as well as the Mediterranean on the French side.

2020 PROGRAM

 

Saturday November 7
12:30 p.m .:

Beginning of the BIBS WITHDRAWAL at the Sud Canigó nature center. NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION (COVID19 regulations).

Poles authorized, headlamp recommended for slower runners (Falling night on the way back). Depending on the weather, each runner is free to equip himself with a windbreaker.

Refueling at km1.8 (Round trip) - Water point at the top.

 

1:45 p.m .:

The first runners take the 2km link path towards the start at the Font del Boix.

 

2:00 p.m .:

End of the withdrawal of bibs and the first runner sets off on the KV (bib N ° 1). Departure every 30 seconds (time can be extended according to recommendations)

At the end of their route, the runners return to the South Canigó nature center by a marked descent different from the route taken for the ascent.

 

6:00 p.m./30:

Start of the Prize-giving ceremony (alleviated by COVID)

-Delivery of the KV race rewards

 

7:00 p.m .:

Closing aperitif: Depending on the recommendations, this friendly moment may not take place.

2.9 km for 1000m of vertical drop

of Belmaig.

A course that has the capacity for the best runners to beat the Belmaig ascent record?
The first track (4.8km) was considered too rolling to be able to establish a record performance.

The route starting from the boxwood fountain takes a steep path in the chestnut forest. at km 1.8, the refueling point, the horizon emerges, with a view of the Belmaig 1.1 km further on.

The steep sections continue to follow one another up to the top.
